Little Fishie

If you know the Mehta girls, then you know we L-O-V-E the pool.  Nothing makes us happier than a good swim.  I was thrilled in college when Matt and I started dating and I learned that he loved the pool too!  So, I was over-the-moon when Olivia took to the pool like a little fish.

We bought her a baby pool on Saturday and after a few minutes adjusting to the cold temperature, she was hooked!

On Sunday we went to a friend's house to try out the big pool - she was splashing and kicking and smiling the whole time.  We must have worn her out too, because she came home, gulped down an entire bottle of milk and then immediately went to sleep.

Its going to be a fun summer!

Six Month Picture Shoot

For Olivia's six month pictures, we went back to our favorite photographer - Christina Conklin. She took Olivia's newborn pictures and did a fabulous job.  We love the 6 month shot so much!  Here are a few of our favorites:

Seven Months

Another month has flown by and, per usual, we find ourselves wondering where the time went!

Olivia is changing so much these days.  She is now scooting all over the place and can go from laying down to sitting up on her own.  This has made daily tasks (diaper changes, putting on clothes, sleeping) much more difficult!  But, it also makes playtime a LOT more fun.  She's much more responsive to us now, she will crawl after the toy she wants, and she's getting really good at holding different sized objects.

Here she is crawling off the playmat but looking to see if dad is watching her...she does this often.

And her recent developments have caused us to make some logistical changes around here.  Matt moved her crib down a level after we found out she could pull herself up and we've started the process of baby-proofing.

Olivia is eating like a champ!  Frankly, she's a much better eater when it comes to vegetables than either Matt or I are. The best thing about Olivia eating is the enthusiastic noises she makes when she likes something.  Here is a video of her eating applesauce - she makes these same noises where ever she is (restaurant, school, or home) when she is enjoying whatever she's eating or drinking.  Water gets the same joyful reception!

I signed Olivia and I up for a Mommy & Me Music Class on Friday mornings when I'm off.  She L-O-V-E-S it!!  Its geared to babies 6-8 months old and she really likes all the songs, dances and playing with instruments.  I'm hoping we can continue this class even after I go back to work full time!

She is still doing well in day-care too, except for nap time apparently.  At her school, all the babies' mattresses are on the floor.  When I went to pick her up on Thursday, her teacher told me Olivia kept climbing off her mat and crawling over to play with the toys!  I guess its like mother, like daughter - as my own mother loves to tell stories of me being a bad napper at nursery school to the point where she would have to come pick me up before nap time so the other kids could sleep!  Lets hope it doesn't come to that with Olivia!

And she is really loving the park and as soon as we start walking up the path, she recognizes it and gets very excited about the swings.  Our new Friday night routine is swinging at the park, dinner at a neighborhood sushi restaurant (its very quiet & they think Olivia is cute, so she can be as loud as she wants), bed for Olivia and then Matt & I watch Shark Tank (Matt's FAVORITE show ever) and then go to bed early.  Even as I write it, I am sort of embarrassed at how lame it sounds, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love it and look forward to it every Friday!

And - just some random, cute moments from the past month:

Olivia was in a ridiculously happy mood one night after her bath, so we snapped a few smiley, naked baby pictures

We've been trying to go for more walks/runs with her and, although she is being pushed around, it apparently wears her out!

Sunday brunch

She sleeps "bottoms up" now & Matt and I can't get over how cute it is - we literally have 30 pictures of her in these exact same positions.  Most nights Matt gets mad at me that the flash from the camera is going to wake her!

Its been another amazing month!

Big News

So, almost over night, we have TWO very exciting developments at Casa Dean!

First, Olivia is trying to crawl!! She's pretty good - check out this video. (And, yes, if anything could motivate her to crawl its the iPhone playing Low by Flo Rida!).

And, per usual, once she got her prize - she promptly put it in her mouth.

Second, Olivia is getting two TEETH!  One on the top and one on the bottom.

Matt and I can literally barely contain our joy at these two developments.  I discovered the tooth and frantically rushed into our bedroom to tell Matt, who received the news with all the excitement and delight that I was hoping for and eagerly stuck his fingers in her mouth to feel the little tooth.

And...Matt discovered the almost-crawling this weekend while I was at Aunt Yasmin's bachelorette party.  He sent me a video of our little baby genius, to which I immediately called him and put him on permanent video-camera-status till I got home.  I then proceeded to steal all of Yasmin's thunder by showing everyone at the party the video of Olivia rocking back-and-forth on her knees!  (Sorry Aunt Yasmin....we promise we won't steal your thunder on your actual wedding day!).

We aren't at all biased or in love with this little love bug ;)

Hoppy Easter!

We had a great Easter celebration this year.  Having Olivia makes every holiday so much more fun & exciting.

We woke up Easter morning to find that E. Bunny himself had come in the middle of the night and left a basket full of treats for sweet Olivia.

The holiday didn't stop Olivia from displaying her latest quirk - she won't sit by herself on the playmat.  She needs to be sitting on my lap, while playing with her toys.  (No, she's not spoiled at all!).  Matt snapped these pathetic crying pictures when I walked 10 feet away from her to get my water.

But, once I came back, she was happy and all ready to see what was in her basket....and chew on it all....

After a nap and a change of clothes, we were very happy to host our families for Easter brunch.  Olivia was oh-so-excited to see Mimi & GrandDad.  She missed them both very much and greeted them with smiles & kisses.

She had fun before brunch playing with Aunt Yasmin & Aunt Nazreen, where she showed off her latest skill for the group - screaming as loud as she can.  Similar to this, but she really ramped it up for the crowd at Easter!

We had a delicious spread & I tried out a few new recipes that are definitely keepers, including this Baked French Toast & Salted Caramel Easter Popcorn.

Olivia joined us for brunch & was quite demanding as Mimi wasn't feeding her butternut squash fast enough!

After lunch, she enjoyed a good cuddle with Tutu & Popo!

And, I can't help but show off one of my Pinterest decorating ideas - tulips in a vase filled with jelly beans - so cute!

It was a really wonderful day & we felt very blessed to spend it with both our families.
