Christmas fun

We have been having such a fun time enjoying lots of Christmas-y activities!  Excuse the RIDICULOUSLY long post but between all the activities, plus getting a new computer, plus work going CRAZY this month, I have been behind on blogging!

We started off December by decorating the tree.  This was the first year that Olivia really helped and I loved it!

We also spent a "girls weekend" in Dallas while Matt had a weekend off with some college friends.  It was the best time!  We were lucky enough to enjoy Friday night at the Aldophus hotel with a prime viewing spot for the Dallas Christmas parade the next morning!

Olivia adores Blythe and had such a fun time with her seeing all the dancers rehearsing for the parade and having a slumber party at the hotel.

We got in our matching pjs, read some books and went to bed

The next morning, these 2 were up bright and early (i.e. before the sun!) and thrilled to see more dancers rehearsing.

We went downstairs to take a walk but found an entire lobby full of dancers --- we couldn't really drag Olivia and Blythe away.  Talk about good babysitting! ;)

And finally it was time for the parade.  We felt so lucky to be part of such a fun family tradition and even happier that Bethany, Palmer and Grace could come over to join us.

Olivia is obsessed with pretty little Grace!

Post-parade jumps on the bed are the best!

Erica and I spent our Saturday night assembling a gingerbread house for the girls to decorate the next morning. We were a little nervous about the structural integrity of the house, but luckily it held together!

The girls were thrilled and got right to decorating (and eating!)

Showing off the finished product!

And we had some playtime before we left.  Doctoring is serious business at the Gannon house -- Aunt Yazzie was very impressed!

We finished the trip up with a delicious brunch.  Olivia is a fan of brunch that include bacon!

Next up was Breakfast With Santa at her school.  She loved the breakfast with her buddy Sarah more than meeting Santa.  Notice the death-grip she has on me!

A few days later, Olivia had her annual Holiday Program at school.  Matt and I won a "Fast Pass" at this year's school auction which got us 4 tickets at the front of the line.  So we invited Popo and Tutu and watched our little one dance to "All I Want For Christmas" -- so cute!

And dinner afterwards!

We also went to see Really Really Big Christmas Show this year.  It was quite a sight and I think we may make it an annual tradition!

We had so much fun making Gingerbread Houses with Blythe, we decided to make our own

We made our "Santa List" by cutting out pictures of the things Olivia wanted and gluing them down for him.  Phillip delivered the list to Santa for us...

And we attempted another Santa encounter at the Zoo.  This time went much better!  And this is an amazing event.  If any Houstonians are Zoo Members -- put this on your list for next December.  So worth it!

After she was done sitting on his lap and telling him what she wanted, he asked her if she had any questions.  She asked "What kind of cookies does Mrs. Claus like?"
And she got her face painted "like Frozen" (which she loved despite the pained expression on her face!)

(she cracks herself up when she makes this face!)

Breakfast (or, in Olivia's case, bacon)

And a trip to the zoo wouldn't be complete without some animals and a trip on the carousel
