For the past few years, the weight of spring break, summer vacations, and random school holidays has been weighing on me. At Cathedral House, the school is basically open 360 days a year. The days it is closed were usually work holidays for me as well, so it aligned perfectly. But, with Kinkaid, the ability to manage these "off days" and also my work schedule was a huge point of anxiety for me. Luckily we eased our way into the new schedule with my maternity leave. We also got to know 3 sophomore girls at Kinkaid, which has been pretty amazing. They are usually off whenever Olivia is (save for some "lower school only" holidays) and Olivia LOVES them. Its a total win for me & Matt because we get quality child care at a great price that Olivia looks forward to. And, having grandparents close by that can fill in if we get in a bind has totally saved us too. Spring Break proved to be a little difficult because all the usual babysitters went on vacation. So we had a hodgepodge arrangement of child care (including the new app Bambino which is basically life changing!) from Mon-Thurs. I decided to take Fri & Monday off work (because of course she had the entire week of Spring Break off + the following Monday) and we planned a little trip to Austin. It was the best trip! Great weather, super relaxing for ALL FOUR of us, and great family time.
Olivia and I took Eric to school on Friday morning and then indulged in a little mani/pedi time.
Then we packed up the car and went to grab baby brother from school. He was excited to see his sissy!
And we hit the road!
The only real requirement I had for our trip was that the hotel needed a heated pool. The beautiful Hotel Granduca fit the bill. Olivia LOVED it - she told everyone about the pool before and after our trip. And she spent several hours each day swimming (this basically sealed the deal on putting a pool into our new house!)
Baby Eric experienced his first time in a pool and I'm not sure he really knew what to think...
We were there on St. Patrick's day so these Lucky Charms sported their green attire.
There was no agenda for the trip so we just did whatever the schedule/weather/moods would allow. We hung out at Zilker Park a few times (including a train ride).
Of course enjoyed Mexican food + yummy drinks!
I think Olivia would agree that we had the best time on our trip to Hill Country
