Harvey the Terrible

Only a week into school starting, Hurricane Harvey hit Houston.  The devastation caused by this storm will rock Houston for years to come.  We know so many people that lost so much, including our own Mimi & Grandpa.  Olivia was out of school for TWO weeks and we were basically stuck at home, so we had to get creative to fill the days.

Olivia put on lots of "shows" for us.  Once Eric was her "chef helper"

But most of the time he was just her biggest fan

We did lots of cooking (smoothies, pizzas, and crepes)

 Of course dance parties

And when the rain finally stopped, our friends and family were able to assess the damage.  Its been devastating and sobering.  Matt has spent days at my parents house helping to clean it all out and we have been part of numerous meal trains, donation efforts and neighborhood clean ups.  But I don't think we have ever been so happy to see the Houston sun.

This pic of baby E reminded me instantly of one of miss O around this same age...

In the week after the storm, school was still cancelled so we managed to get together with some of our CHES friends...

Baby E started figuring out his jumperoo (currently the only apparatus he will sit in for more than 2 minutes)

In a time of such sadness, scariness and devastation, Matt and I both hugged these 2 a little closer each night.
