Egg-cellent Easter

We had such a great Easter this year! Early that morning, Olivia was happy to see the “bunny trail” that the Easter Bunny left and all the eggs he hid for her. The money, M&Ms, and crackers were a big hit. E.B. probably shouldn't leave any more raisins though!

She also got a basket full of goodies (sunglasses, magnets, keys, Circus House, chalk, book, bubbles)!

After breakfast and a bath, we decided to take a little walk before the family came over. Of course, baby Ed joined us for the walk.

Apparently Ed needed a little back rub mid-walk.

And a diaper check (luckily she was clean!)

Then Ed got too heavy, so we had to go back for the stroller (note that we still haven’t made it down the driveway at this point!).

We got the stroller and we were on our way! We didn't get too much further, because she would stop every 5 steps to kiss Ed and make her hand wave at us. (Olivia thinks it’s hilarious to make Ed wave and watch us greet Ed happily!)

Soon the family came over! Like any good party, we started out with a little dancing.

Then Olivia opened Easter baskets from her grandparents. The play phone from Mimi & GrandDad was a big hit!

She was equally thrilled with the dancing chicken & Mum Mums from Tutu and Pop-O.

Then we sat down for brunch.

Matt and I filled these cute eggs with food for Olivia (turkey, cheese, veggie chips, and apples). She loved it!

I've mentioned before that Olivia is very particular about where people sit at the table. In anticipation of this, and knowing her preferences, I tried to arrange everyone in a way that would make her happy such that she wouldn't cause a scene or hurt any feelings. My plan worked well for a while, but soon poor Mimi got a hard lesson in seating. Olivia literally pushed her and told her to “go” and then told me “Mama sit down” and pointed to Mimi’s chair. Luckily Mimi wasn't offended and agreed to switch seats. (Although I can’t make any promises about her reminding Olivia of this for years to come!)

Once she just couldn't sit still anymore, Tutu entertained Olivia with The Itzy Bitsy Spider – her current favorite.

After brunch we tried to take a few pictures (she doesn’t really understand looking at the camera and smiling yet…and if we tell her to say “cheese” it only causes her to ask to eat cheese and then cry if I won’t give her any!)

And we played a bit more!

Then Matt hid some more confetti eggs outside so we had another hunt!

After brunch everyone left and we all took a good nap. Then we woke up and played with our new toys.
Two funny stories from the day:

1. Olivia is starting to learn about potty training and she is now very curious about it. So, when anyone went to the restroom or left the room, Olivia would predict what they were doing. Unfortunately for Yazzie and Mimi, Olivia outed them for going poo-poo - whether they were or not!

2. Early that morning, Matt and Olivia were out riding her bike and an elderly woman at the end of our street came out and was apparently so taken by Olivia that she went to her car and came back with an Easter basket full of eggs and candy. Very nice, but a little surprising since we had never met her before. At dinner that night, we were recounting the fun of the day and Matt mentioned the "crazy lady" who gave Olivia that basket. Olivia said "Mimi?" We died laughing and I said "No, the other crazy lady." Olivia looked at Matt and said "Tutu?" Ha! She catches on quickly! JUST KIDDING Mimi & Tutu! ;)

Such a fun day and so blessed to spend it with sweet family!
